Strong Nordic Presence at Datacloud Global Congress 2026 in Cannes

The Nordics made a strong impact at Datacloud Global Congress 2026 in Cannes, with growing interest from across Europe in the region's sustainable and energy-smart approach to data center development.

Throughout the event, Swedish Data Center Industry (SweDCI), represented by Ann Wingård, Fredrik Lindahl, Isabelle Kemlin, and Greger Ruud, joined forces with colleagues from the Norwegian Datacenter Industry, Danish Data Center Industry, Finnish Data Center Association (FDCA), and Data Centers by Iceland at the Nordic Pavilion.

The week was filled with valuable discussions, new industry connections, and meetings with several prospective members interested in contributing to the continued growth of the Nordic data center ecosystem.

A clear message emerged from conversations across the congress: topics such as sustainable power, energy-efficient infrastructure, district heating, smart grids, resilience, and regional collaboration are no longer peripheral considerations. They are becoming key drivers shaping the future of Europe's data center industry.

One of the highlights of the week was the panel discussion:

"The Nordic Approach: Why Energy-Smart Data Centers Are Becoming Europe's Best Neighbours"

The session brought together leading voices from across the Nordic data center sector:

  • Bergþóra Halldórsdóttir, Borealis Data Center (Moderator)
  • Stefan Nilsson, Conapto
  • Andreas Karhula Lauridsen, European Energy
  • Atle Soma, Skygard
  • Tiina Davidsainen, Fortum

The discussion explored how the Nordic region is setting new standards for sustainable data center operations and creating value for both local communities and the wider European digital economy.

SweDCI would also like to recognize member companies Crestchic Loadbanks, who proudly showcased their SweDCI membership at their stand, and Salboheds, whose stand attracted strong engagement and became a popular meeting point throughout the event.

We extend our sincere thanks to all members, partners, visitors, and future members who contributed to making the week such a success.

We look forward to continuing these conversations and strengthening Nordic collaboration as the industry moves toward a more sustainable and resilient future.

Thank you, Cannes — we look forward to returning next year.
